I am Mrs Metaphor. I was Mrs Metaphor long before I ever began writing with her pen name.
I was Mrs Metaphor each time I spoke with a friend about our lives, each time I started a new job, each story shared with a grocery store clerk.
There have been a lot of shared stories with grocery store clerks. Grocery store clerks are, in my opinion, the essential piece in the jigsaw puzzle of modern communication.
My life is a 4 lane highway and I drive a big rig. I am wife, mother, sister, daughter, personal trainer, writer, retreat leader, guru and mentor. I also do windows. I don’t like to do windows but I must. We all must. It’s important to be able to see what’s outside of us.
I have no platform but I do enjoy the stage. I began writing as Mrs Metaphor in 2006. It’s my stage. I own it. I pay $19.95 per year to keep it running. It attracts a modest audience, sometimes a downright outrageous audience when the search engine words hit pay dirt. They are a lovely crowd, regardless of size. They are not ALL related to me. I promise.
Mrs Metaphor has something to offer. She has something to say. I hope she says it with grace and wit. I hope she says it with authenticity and honor. She is a wise woman or so I’ve been told. She is the the apple pie on the windowsill, the fortune telling fish, the best advice you ever got.
Mrs Metaphor is not like a whirlwind because that would require Mrs Simile.
As Wise Woman, I have been leading women’s work and women’s retreats for the last 15 years. As Personal Trainer I have been writing train schedules to wellness for people for the last 12 years. As Writer I have been turning lead into gold for 20 years. Years are long and full, rich in retrospect, reaching and uncertain looking forward. This is where we all live.
I am Mrs Metaphor, this is what I do.
Hi, Mrs. Metaphor! I would love to link my Mary Kay Truth blog to yours! Let me know! π

I spread your ideas because…
Ideas spread when people choose to spread them. Here are some reasons why:
1. I spread your ideas because it makes me feel generous.
2….because I feel smart alerting others to what I discovered.
3….because I care about the outcome and want you (the creator of the ideas) to succeed in the forum you have chosen.
(Seth Grodin said this first….. but I wanted to share this with you)
Thanks Nancy!
You are my inspiration! I just created a blog — not really sure what my focus will be long-term, but I love writing & metaphors, so I’m just running with it. Metaphors have always been a tremendous vehicle for my personal growth. On a whim, I typed “metaphor + blog” into Google to see what else was out there in the big wide world – and I found Mrs. Metaphor. Your writing is beautiful — I can’t wait to dig in and read more. My blog is just a bitty baby, but I hope to get into a regular practice of writing. Not for money or fame :), just to express all those thoughts that are bursting to get out. Always wonderful to find a kindred spirit.
Well done, Cara and best of luck with your writing! Just write what you feel and see what unfolds. You blog will become what it’s meant to be if you keep with it.
